Benjamin Lehmann is a Showrunner, Producer, Director and Writer specializing in Children’s and Family Entertainment.
His recent projects include Tiny Time Travel, premiering on PBS Kids in March 2024, a literacy and social communication show. Ben ran the production for Tiny Time Travel as Executive Producer and Series Director on behalf of MAROBRU INC.
Ben is also an Executive Producer and the Series Director on The Pigeon Explains! A new series from the Mo Willems Workshop.
In addition, Ben recently worked with Twin Cities PBS developing and producing a mixed media show titled Book Drop. Ben co-developed the show with TPT and was the Head Writer and Executive Producer for the series featuring animation, live action and book readings by STEM professionals.
Ben formerly led the production and creative direction for Sesame Street and all other live action productions at Sesame Workshop and was the Executive Producer for Sesame Street from seasons 49 to 53 (He started on Sesame Street as a Production Assistant in Season 34 and has worked on every season since).
Ben remains active with Sesame Street as a Director. He directed 3 lifestyle specials for Sesame Street and MAX in 2023 and is currently directing episodes for Season 55.
Prior accomplishments include developing and Executive Producing The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo (EMMY and WGA nominated) and Executive Producing and being Series Director for Helpsters, a computational thinking show for Apple TV+ (40 episodes).
A 22-time EMMY award winner, Ben’s work has been recognized by IMAGEN, NAACP, PEABODY, JAPAN PRIZE and others. He was nominated in 2018 by the Director’s Guild of America for his direction of the Magical Wand Chase and in 2021 by the Writers Guild of America for his writing on The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo.
A native of Los Angeles, Ben spent his formative years in France and is comfortable working in French and English. He received a BA from Colorado University, Boulder and lives in Queens, NY with his wife and two children.
